Starting May 25 th certain companies doing business with the EU will have to comply with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or face heavy penalties. Businesses that have EU citizens’ data online or offline are required to set a “corporate data policy.”

If data breaches occur the companies are obliged to inform owners within 72 hours of the breach. In addition, later this year Thailand’s Data Protection Act will go into force clearly defining data protection parameters for businesses with stiff penalties for non-compliance.
